Ocean Bouquets
Ocean Bouquets is a collection of pressed marine botanicals gathered by hand along the shores of Abu Dhabi. Each composition preserves seaweed in its natural form, revealing a beauty that often goes unnoticed beneath the tide. Every artwork is one of a kind, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, and framed to preserve its delicate structure for generations.
The works invite us to look more closely at the natural world. The branching forms of seaweed echo patterns found throughout creation: in the veins that carry blood through our bodies, the roots that anchor trees, the paths of lightning across the sky, and the rivers that shape the land. These recurring fractal patterns remind us that the smallest part often reflects the whole, revealing an underlying harmony woven throughout creation.
For me, Ocean Bouquets are also a visual representation of tawakkul (trust in God). Seaweed neither determines the direction of the tide nor resists the movement of the sea. It remains firmly attached while yielding to forces greater than itself, embodying steadfastness without the need for control. It reminds me that trust is not passivity, but the quiet confidence to remain serene while allowing life to unfold according to God’s wisdom.
The collection emerged from countless walks along Abu Dhabi’s coastline. As I walk, my attention naturally shifts between the sand beneath my feet, the water before me, the warmth of the sun, the openness of the sky, and finally the skyline of my home. This gentle rhythm of observation has become a form of contemplation. Ocean Bouquets are an invitation to slow down, to notice what is often overlooked, and to discover that the ordinary world is filled with extraordinary beauty.
Each artwork serves as both a botanical specimen and a quiet reflection on belonging, patience, trust, and the intricate order woven throughout creation.
